Description: Curamericas Global is a 26-year-old international public health organization that partners with organizations in communities that lack basic health services to develop self-sustaining programs that deliver measurable improvements in health.
Summary: The Executive Director of Curamericas provides vision, leadership, motivation, inspiration, and direction to the Board, staff, volunteers, and donors of the organization. The Executive Director is responsible for the overall management of the organization, to accomplish its day-to-day work and long range strategies including planning, fundraising, Board and partner relations, financial management, development, human resources, information systems, public relations, communications and development planning.
Background and Experience: In order to further the mission of Curamericas, the Executive Director should have the following qualifications:
•Ability to provide strong and innovative leadership in managing change
•Must be a visionary
•Able to provide structure and motivation to the staff and Board of Directors
•Individual should have the ability to meet expectations and needs of multiple constituencies: funders, supporters, Board members, and volunteers.
•Extensive experience with Board development is crucial.
•Demonstrated general management experience in non-profit, government, and/or private sector environment.
•A minimum of five years executive management experience is required.
•Experience in serving as a spokesman for an organization.
•Proven track record with developing a strong network with key figures in the public health arena.
•Experience with USAID, CDC, or other major government funders a definite plus.
•Strong writing skills a must.
•Proven experience with developing and building international programs.
Personal Characteristics: The Executive Director should embody sensitivity, passion, compassion, a strong commitment to the mission of Curamericas, and a genuine understanding of the international health arena. She/he should be an excellent communicator with all people at every level. Strong writing, analytical and communications skills -- bilingual capability is a plus. A leader with a proven track record in building effective programs and strategies. Experienced decision maker with the ability to work well under pressure and adapt easily to changing situations. Strategic thinker coupled with the ability to develop a long range vision and its implementation. Good judgment and consensus building skills.
Education: A Bachelor’s degree or higher is preferred in a related field.
