| Job Description: |
The North Carolina Central University (NCCU) Foundation was incorporated in 1972 to help the University meet its needs beyond base funding by generating private support. The NCCU Foundation is a tax exempt organization under section 501 C (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The Foundation is governed by a volunteer board of directors that elects its officers and appoints its staff. The Foundation is located on the campus of North Carolina Central University. This position reports to the Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement/Executive Director of the NCCU Foundation.
The Associate Director is responsible for the day-to-day management of the NCCU Foundation and its staff including:
• Monitoring all revenues, expenses, endowment funds and investments.
• Preparing all budgets, quarterly and annual reports.
• Assisting auditors in completing the annual audit and filing tax returns.
• Developing and maintaining policies and controls for financial functions.
• Ensuring proper recording and reconciliation of all Foundation transactions.
• Working closely with the Institutional Advancement Stewardship and University Endowment offices.
• Supervising staff of two (accounts payable and account clerk)
• Assisting the Executive Director and Foundation Board with strategic planning and goal setting.
Qualifications
• A Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting with a minimum of five years experience in a non-profit organization or higher education institution. CPA is preferred.
• A high level of knowledge in the areas of accounting, financial controls and information systems.
• Strong leadership capabilities, excellent judgment and decision-making abilities, ability to interpret and evaluate policy and procedural requirements and produce and analyze data.
• Effective written, oral communication and presentation skills.
