Job Description:	Habitat for Humanity of Wake County develops partnerships to build healthy, affordable homes with and for people in need, promotes self-reliance through homeownership, affirms the dignity of family, and creates sustainable communities. The organization plays a critical role in the affordable housing community, helping to elevate families to homeownership, providing financial counseling and other services which provide a foundation for family stability. This opportunity provides the incumbent with the opportunity to build upon the past success of the organization while driving the vision toward providing more opportunities for homeownership in the community. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader capable of articulating a vision for the organization into the future and forging relationships with community, local governmental and affordable housing leaders; able to partner with and engage religious leaders and faith-based communities of all denominations; mobilizing community resources in support of programs and initiatives that will aid the affordable housing continuum as a whole; be an excellent communicator, a good manager, an active listener, and a strong advocate, who understands the importance of being a supportive, active team leader; be passionate about the value of affordable housing for families; possess the capacity to understand emerging issues and strategies in affordable housing, and be a force for change in the community. The ideal candidate will have past experience as the leader of a non-profit or corporate profit organization with significant experience managing sizable teams and with proven success in working with a strong board of directors. Development experience and the knowledge to effectively run the business side of the organization while setting and implementing strategy and achieving measurable results are required. Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree with preference for advanced degree or strong relevant life experience; demonstrated success in a leadership position managing sizable teams of professional staff and a diverse range of activities; demonstrated knowledge of affordable housing issues; demonstrated ability to access, interpret and communicate a variety of information to a variety of publics; ability to write, speak and listen clearly, and in a manner understood by diverse audiences; and, a history of involvement in civic affairs at the community and regional level. Experience reporting to a non-profit board and providing effective leadership to a highly engaged board is strongly preferred.
