||ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP:
The N.C. Center for Nonprofits (www.ncnonprofits.org) is seeking a flexible, career-oriented individual with a passion for technology to fill a part-time unpaid information technology internship. An ideal candidate would be someone who has basic knowledge of computer administration and who has a desire to explore the many facets of technology – from workstation support to data management. This internship will provide a unique opportunity to get hands-on experience that will serve as a solid foundation for anyone interested in an IT related career. The internship will be 20-30 hours per week, with flexibility. The Center’s office is located at 1110 Navaho Drive, Suite 200, Raleigh NC 27609.
ABOUT THE N.C. CENTER:
The Center serves as a statewide network for nonprofit board and staff members, an information center on effective organizational practices, and an advocate for the nonprofit sector as a whole. Created by more than 2,000 board and staff members representing every county in North Carolina, the Center offers services to all 501(c)(3) nonprofits in our state and has a membership of more than 1,650 nonprofits. Our mission is to enrich North Carolina's communities and economy through a strong nonprofit sector and nonprofit voice.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Provide first-line response for users requiring assistance with information technology issues and problems.
Contribute to improving functionality of computer systems.
Create training tutorials and materials to help end users.
Install, configure, and/or upgrade workstations based on organizational needs and requirements.
Help with removal of data prior to disposal.
Configure mobile devices.
Ensure hardware and software inventory are kept up to date.
Perform other duties or special projects as requested related to area of responsibility.
DESIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:Prior knowledge of the information technology field through academic preparation and practical working experience in information technology or a related subject.
A passion for technology and desire to be part of a dynamic staff team in a high-speed, respectful work culture.
Strong analytical, strategic thinking and organizational skills.
Must have a strong work ethic, desire to learn and is not afraid to ask questions.
Strong verbal and written communication, including good grammar and spelling.
Exceptional computer skills including strong knowledge of Windows and Office applications. Experience with MS Small Business Server, Exchange Server, Salesforce CRM and Drupal (or other CMS) a plus.
Basic knowledge of computer administration (ex. installing printers, setting up software, running computer diagnostics)
Good interpersonal skills, diplomacy, tact, and judgment.
Ability to work independently and juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
